Disneyland is TRIPPIN' BALLS

I went to Disneyland for the very first time recently! :D I wasn't completely sure what to expect. Wow, I was blown away by the attention to detail in everything: the creativity of the rides, the music, the shows, the characters, the different themed sections, etc. It really is like entering a whole 'nother world in all it's Disney manufactured goodness

I had a lot of fun but I'm really happy to be back in beautiful Vancouver! I drew some of my favorite little memories of the trip in my itty bitty traveling sketchbook. I cleaned it up a bit in photoshop and wa la!

Game of Thrones (SPOILER)

Fanart for Game of Thrones. This is a bit of a spoiler so I'm sorry for any adamant spoil-free fans out there who stumble upon this.

The first bit of advice given to me when I mentioned that I would start watching Game of Thrones was "Just assume everybody will die. Don't get too attached as the author is well known for killing his characters". This advice is very much true. If you're looking for happiness and life, go read..uh..Eat Pray Love or something, not Game of Thrones.

Like any other story where characters often die (The Walking Dead is another example for me), after a while it loses its' shock value and becomes a bit irritating "Oh, there goes another one. Great."

Glitch Toy Street Concepts

Ahh concepts I drew that never made it to the game..

There was talk of creating "Toy Streets" in Glitch where players would buy a set that would allow them to create a street. The set would come with a number of props to decorate a blank street as they please. This might include assets for platforming, that light up or have noises, or different physic changers. Power to the playaas!

We loved how so many players would create art with the items in the game that we instantly wanted to create a minecraft street. Players could get a number of coloured blocks and use those to create pieces as well.

Sugar Rush

I couldn't resist drawing myself as a Sugar Rush character from Wreck it Ralph. It's such a catchy song.
S-U-G-A-R Jump into your racing car, SUGAR RUSH! SUGAR RUSH!

Promotional Images of Glitch Homes

I designed two decorable homes, a shipwreck and prehistoric bone dwelling for Glitch and made up these promotional images for Facebook to create some excitement. These never got used since Glitch is closing but we're releasing all the features we were working on in one big huzzah anyway!

Glitch is closing

I loved my experience at Tiny Speck; a talented passionate team, a great community of players, and a vast amount of creavity, fun, and love. Glitch is truly something special. I'm so glad and grateful to have been a part of it ♥ LOBE.
(The pig is a favorite Glitch animal of mine. If you nibble him, he drops meat. There is also a rainbow run level in the game. Thus, meaty rainbow run pig!)

Hello Sweetie

Been watching a lot of Doctor Who lately and have finally caught up to season 7! I have to say that I really love River Song and her storyline. She's badass! :)

You know nothing Jon Snow.

Love the television show "Game of Thrones"! I am currently reading the books as well. All this gaming for the throne ,of course, leads to fan art. Drew a cutesy illustration of Jon Snow and Ygritte. Not really very much of a spoiler as you'd have to be blind to not see that coming.

Felted Glitch Pig Cubimal (almost)

A Glitch piggy cubimal!
...Except he's orange (didn't have pink), and has no wind up spring or legs. Soo he's more like just an orange pig cube. (His dream is to be a cubimal one day though :P)

Tiny Speck Face to Face

Tiny Speck related post! A while ago, the Tiny Speck team met up in San Francisco for a face to face meeting. It was pretty flippin' awesome and I left feeling more motivated and inspired to work on Glitch! I drew little sketches while I was there.

Whenever I travel somewhere, I hope to document it sketch-style :) Next time though, I'd like to throw in funny or interesting moments. This one is pretty dry in "This is what we did. Then this. This this." and I regret that. I know when I read blogs, I enjoy hearing the funny tidbits the most.
Next time! :)

Glitchin' Houses

Currently I'm working at Tiny Speck, on a game called Glitch :) I love it! I work on a game I love with an awesome bunch of people for a rockin' community of gamers.

I thought I'd show some art I've done for Glitch on my blog. We recently released exterior houses and they were a big hit! It makes me happy to see people enjoying what we've made :)

These are a few sketches I did before making the house in Illustrator. I normally will make small thumbnails for myself but typically I will not make detailed thorough drawings and will go straight into Illustrator. However, since houses take so much time, it was much faster & better to get a sketch approved first before dedicating time to it in Illustrator.

Original sketches for the House of Whimsy.
House #1. Not crazy enough. Needs to feel more Dr. Seuss inspired.

House #2. Still not crazy enough but Kukubee really liked the idea of extensions.

House #3. Ran with the extensions idea and made sure there were interesting negative space and shapes.

Now in Illustrator with a variety of colours and options :) I ended up having to make way more options than shown here, but you get the idea.

The original sketch for hobbit home.

Hobbit home drawn in Illustrator with different options!

San Francisco Sketchbook Pages

A couple of months ago I went to San Francisco. Beautiful city! I tried keeping a sketchbook while I was there. I didn't draw nearly enough but there were too many things to do! I had a really great time. It reminds me a lot of Vancouver, but more awesome :P

Totoro! in little needle felt wool form.

Needle felted a little Totoro! I love the movie, My Neighbor Totoro :) Who wouldn`t want to latch onto a big cuddly fuzzy Totoro while he flies into the air on a magical adventure?

Ichigo. Needle Felting.

I got a small needle felting kit the other day! It's a very satisfying feeling to sculpt felt with the poke of a needle. Poke poke poke... It's also great for releasing stress! ;p
For my first project, I made Ichigo from Katmari Damacy! Love that game.

More tiny needle felting projects to come! :)

Sketchin'

Sketchin' time! I feel a bit guilty if I don't update my blog so here are some sketches. Most of these are people I've seen in the cafe. Sometimes I wonder if I have ever been unknowingly sketched...
